Sweet scent of spring

Dale Bond measures progress on boiling down sap collected from his 10-acre sugarbush stand on his Allen Road farm north of Clarkston, with the help of Paul Dolza, at left. He and about a dozen friends and colleagues helped collect the sap and boil it down into syrup in a homemade cooker, making about 2-3 gallons out of 100 or so gallons of sap. Photo provided
