Kickers dominated last week with three wins. The Clarkston Boys Varsity Soccer team was off to a quick start as they hosted Lapeer last Thursday with a goal within the first minute from sophomore Dylan Walker.
“We started fast,” said Ian Jones, head coach. “We got the lead fast. It was hard for the other team to get a hold of the ball. It was a game of control for us. We don’t give the ball away a lot to let the other team get in.”
Senior Ethan Wise scored two goals during the game and senior Brendan Regelbrugge had one goal and one assist while freshman Richie Ludwig had two assists. They also defeated Rochester Adams in a 3-0 shutout on Sept. 10.
“We pushed ourselves into a high game from the start,” Jones said. “We started fast and got two goals in ten minutes and I don’t think Adams really recovered from it. Everyone played extremely well.”
Wise scored in the fifth minute of the game and eight minutes later a goal from Walker with an assist from junior Gunnar Karlstrom, put the Wolves up 2-0. The final goal of the game came from junior Andrew Gerrard with an assist from senior Owen Dollins.
They defeated Royal Oak on Sept. 9, 4-1. Walker had two goals during the night. Wise scored one goal off a penalty kick and had two assists. Regelbrugge had one goal.
They opened the week against North Farmington and host Goodrich on Thursday.
“It’s a good night with Youth Night and Senior Appreciation Night,” added Jones. “Hopefully two more wins. If we do what we do well then I don’t foresee a problem. Soccer is a strange game sometimes the ball bounces silly sometimes.”
The Wolves head to Berkley on Tuesday, Sept. 24. JVA plays at 5:30 p.m., varsity follows.
