This week The Clarkston News continues with part two as the Wolves’ reflect on their big year as they finished as MHSAA Division 1 Football State Championships for the first time in history.
Here are a few more players who took the time to answer three questions as they turned in their football jerseys and equipment, some for the last time.
Sophomore Jack Muhleck – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means a lot. I was JV so coming up and helping them prepare for their upcoming games was my main goal. I was just trying to help them win.
Favorite moment: Being at Ford Field was really cool.

Sophomore Anthony Reiner – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It was a great experience. I got moved up from JV as well. I learned a lot from going to the playoffs and winning the championship.
Favorite game: State championship.

Sophomore Brendan Stokes – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means a lot. While growing up I have always wanted to be in the state championship and have been watching on TV.
Favorite game: State championship and being on Ford Field.
To the community: Thank you for the support every game.
Junior Jay Wright – What does winning the state championship mean to you: My brother was on the 2009 team when they lost to Sterling Heights Stevenson in the semifinals. It felt good to play and win it.
Favorite game: The entire season was fun.
To the community: Thank you.
Sophomore Jacob Fisher – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means a lot. It will be a great memory and I will cherish that moment forever.
Favorite game: State championship.
To the community: Thank you for supporting us during the whole season.
Sophomore Carter Linton – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It is like a dream come true.
Favorite game: State championship. Playing at Ford Field was awesome.
To the community: Thanks for the support and coming to the games.
Junior Matt Boczar – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It is awesome. It is something you will never forget.
Favorite moment: Celebrating in the locker room afterwards.

Junior Tristen Lewis – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It was an amazing experience. It was something I always wanted to do since I was a little kid.
Favorite game: The rematch against Adams.
To the community: Thank you for the support.
Junior Alex Snyder – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means a lot to me. It was a dream I have had since I was young.
Favorite game: The rematch against Adams as well.
To the community: Looking forward to next season.
Junior Trevor Laing – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It is something we have been trying to do as a team for a long time. I am proud to be part of the team able to do it.
Favorite game: Rematch against Adams.

Junior Cal Sielaff – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means a lot. It was really cool. We made history. It was cool to be a part of that.
Favorite game: Definitely getting the revenge on Adams.
To the community: Thanks for the support and coming out in the cold weather.
Junior Denny Petersen – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means a lot because we have been dreaming about this moment since we were in third grade.
Favorite game: Pontiac was fun. I had a nice punt snap that turned into a 81-yard punt. It was pretty magnificent.
To the community: Thanks for all the support and all the fundraisers.
Junior Sean Christie – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It is pretty awesome and it is pretty surreal to think we are the first team to do it.
Favorite game: Stoney Creek. It was our first big win.
To the community: Thank you for all the support.
Junior Austin Egler – What does winning the state championship mean to you: We have been working at it since we were really young – since Clarkston Chiefs. We have worked hard enough to reach this level it is the best reward of all.
Favorite moment: Beginning of playoffs when I started contributing as a starter.
To the community: Thank you for the support and helping us out.
Junior Mick Packard – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It is a dream come true. It is something all of us have thought about since we started playing football.
Favorite moment: Walking out onto Ford Field. I was injured for the majority of the season so being able to dress and contribute and see the support of the community behind us was amazing.
To the community: Thank you for being one of the best supporting fans for the team.
Senior Gavin Butler – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It represents everything we have been working since we started playing football.
Favorite moment: I don’t normally play defense but one of the games I got in a sack. I was not expecting that moment.
To the community: Thanks for supporting us and everything we have accomplished possible by being there.
Junior Brandon Douglas – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It’s a dream come true. Just seeing the Detroit Lions play on that field it is a whole new aspect plus it is what we have worked for.
Favorite moment: When we ran out onto Ford Field and ran offensive and defensive. It was just us. It was nice.
To the community: Thank you. It wasn’t all us that took us there. You helped us. Hopefully we will get that support next year, too.
Junior Will Scarlett – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means a lot. It means a lot for our town. It means a lot to our school. It is big.
Favorite moment: Whenever I made a big tackle or play.
To the community: Thank you for coming out and all the support.
Senior Griffin Barta – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means the pride of going to practice every day and sticking it out with my friends. It has been a pleasure playing with all of these guys. It was our dream come true.
Favorite game: Carman-Ainsworth. It was really cold. We played our best football. What we needed to do, we got done.
To the community: Thank you for going to all the football games.
Senior Quinn Montgomery – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It means a lot especially doing it your senior year. It makes it all that much better. It is great to come out as a team and make it happen.
Favorite game: Carman-Ainsworth. It was fun playing in the snow. We played well and things started coming together at the end.
To the community: Thanks for coming to all the games and for all the support.
Junior Mitch Helsel – What does winning the state championship mean to you: It meant a lot to me. It was great to have the sense of comraderie with everyone through the season and all the hard work leading up to it. I was glad it paid off.
Favorite moment: When I got to dress in my pads for the state game because I had a season ending injury and hadn’t dressed since the scrimmage.
To the community: Thank you for all the support and thanks for sticking with us through all the close calls.
The Wolves hold their football banquet on Jan. 12 at Clarkston High School, 4 p.m. and for the first time it is open to the community.
The public is welcome to join at 3 p.m., please bring two dishes to pass around for the dinner beginning at 3:30 p.m.
