Wolves take sting out of Avondale Yellowjackets

Hitters rallied back after their losses against Rochester Adams.
The team they sought revenge on was Auburn Hills Avondale. They scored two mercy wins over Avondale, 14-2 and 14-1.
Jake Sims started the momentum hitting a home run over the fence. Chase Toth followed suit hitting a grand slam and a 2-run home run.
‘It was an excellent day,? said Boys Varsity Baseball Head Coach Phil Price. ‘I was frustrated on Monday because I didn’t think we competed. We just gave in to them. We came back Wednesday and played well. They were trying to redeem themselves.?
Pitchers for the night were Matt Rodgers and Alex Topham.
‘Matt did a wonderful job,? said Price. ‘Alex did a nice job in the second game.?
The boys did hit a snag when it began to rain but they didn’t let it slow them down to take the win.
The boy take on Troy, Troy Athens and Stoney Creek this week before they host the Nathan Manuel Tournament on Saturday.
‘It’s six games this week. I am feeling good,? said Price. ‘We are pretty healthy and I am hopeful our pitchers keep us in the game.?
He added, Rodgers, Topham, Vince Siwick, Jarrett Coy, Matt Miller and Andrew Fairse are looking good and ready to go.
The boys host Athens on Wednesday and head to Stoney Creek on Friday, both games beginning at 4:30.
They are also looking forward to sunny skies when they host the Nathan Manuel Tournament on Saturday.
The Wolves play their first game at 12 p.m. against Cranbrook, followed by Milford.
Their third game depends on how Waterford Mott, Holly and Lapeer East play during the morning and afternoon.
