Young grapplers win four duals for second-place finish

Clarkston finished second place in the MUSAW Elementary School Based Dual State Championships in Highland on April 11.
Clarkston opened with a 54-13 win against Dundee in their first dual meet of the day.
Wins came from Nolan LeFevre, Liam Nicholson, Joe Hahn, Grant Berden, Danny VanEeckhoutte, Zeekial Denault, Connor Berden, Gavin Peruski, Aiden Newton, Ryan Ceo, Gavin Trammell, and AJ Plouhar.
They won their second dual against Brighton Wrestling Club by three points, 35-32, with wins from Ryan Ceo, Nicholson, Hahn, Grant Berden, VanEeckhoutte, Denault, Peruski, and a fall from LeFevre in the final match.
Clarkston lost their third dual to Davison, 42-31. Winning their matches were Hahn, Grant Berden, VanEeckhoutte, Denault, Vogt, Plouhar and Nicholson.

Clarkston won their fourth dual against Matcats Team 1, 42-27. Winning their matches were Connor Berden, Grant Berden, VanEeckhoutte, Denault, Peruski, Newton, Trammell, Nicholson and Hahn.
They won the fifth and final dual of the day against Matcats Team 2, 73-6, with wins from Gavin Culloty, Noah Vogt, Connor Berden, Grant Berden,VanEeckhoutte, Denault, Peruski, Newton, Trammell, Plouhar, LeFevre, Nicholson and Hahn.
Davison finished in first place. Matcats Team 1 finished in third place; Brighton Wrestling Club, fourth place; Dundee, fifth place; and Matcats Team 2, sixth place.
The team is made up of athletes in sixth grade and younger.
The team includes first grader Nolan LeFevre; third grader Grant Berden; fourth grader Zeekial Denault; fifth graders Connor Berden, Ryan Ceo, Joe Hahn, Adam Newton, Liam Nicholson, Danny VanEeckhoutte, Noah Vogt; sixth graders Gavin Culloty, Gavin Peruski, AJ Plouhar, Malachi Switzer and Gavin Trammell.
