Arts honors

Clarkston Foundation for Public Education honored Clarkston students with Performing Arts and Visual Arts achievement awards, April 12.
Performing Arts award winners include sixth-grade students Isabella Brykailo and Claire Walker; seventh graders Gavin Bow and Bedford Muzzy; eighth-grade students Hana Chrenka and Anna Laube; ninth graders Nick Adkins and Brady Stewart; 10th grade students Haley Phillips and Jacob Boersma; 11th graders Molly Damitio and Evan Hall; and 12th graders Zoe Nygaard and Tyler Balkany.
Visual Arts award winners include sixth-grade students Genna Golab and Matthew Bean; seventh graders Leah Sivak and Caden Clawson-Belmonte; eighth-grade students Melody Lebert and Allonja Wilson; ninth graders Halliwell Keippala and Keegan Miller; 10th-grade students Elyse Kalinowski and Tiffani Tharpe; 11th grader, Braxton Cover and Andrew Gilbert; 12th graders Angela DeSantis and Dani Stover; and Renaissance High School 12th graders Avery Carter, Brandi Johnson, and Chloey Helm.
Award winners were nominated by their teachers. The awards are in recognition of their persistence, motivation, enjoyment, open mindedness, natural talent, and hard work, said Clarkston High School Principal Gary Kaul.
“It’s a great honor. You should be very proud,” said Carl Matisse, past president of the Clarkston Foundation.
“Congratulations to all the students,” said state Rep. Jim Tedder. “Keep up the great work.”
