Clarkston Area Optimist Club scholarships awarded four $1,000 scholarships to Clarkston students, May 30.
Andrew Dimmer, a Clarkston Junior Optimist since fourth grade, serving as a state officer, will attend Oakland University in the fall.
Shaelyn Koleber, who co-chaired a blood drive, and leukemia and lymphoma program at Clarkston High School, is going to Michigan Tech.
Justin Osborn, captain of the ski team and Eagle Scout who earned a perfect score on his ACT test, will attend the University of Michigan.
Sage Paris, who received the Henry E. Richardson scholarship in honor of the club’s second president, ran track and was president of the Junior Optimist Club at Clarkston High School for two years. He was the president of the CHS National Honor Society and will attend the University of Michigan.
A 10-member Scholarship Committee reviewed 28 student applications, the second largest number of applicants received by the club, said Optimist Curt Carson.
“It was extremely difficult to make a decision,” Carson said. “They were all deserving. Unfortunately, we could only give four scholarships.”
