Trustee Susan Boatman asked about a $25,671 spending increase in the Support for Other Pupils budget, during a Summer Monthly Financial Update, Sept 24.
Mary Beth Rogers, executive director of business services for Clarkston Community Schools, said the increase pays for a special education lab approved by the school board a month ago.
The school board approved the Practical Assessment Exploration System (PAES) Lab purchase on Aug. 20. The expenditure will be covered by IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) federal funding, Rogers said.
Fund equity as of June 30, 2018, was around $8.8 million, falling to around $6 million in August. The district doesn’t receive much income during July and August, she said.
“We don’t start receiving our state revenue until October,” she said.
The annual budget audit will be presented this month, she said.
