Some updates for students participating in the Optimist Club Essay Contest – submit applications and essay to Tracy Bedford at the Clarkston Independence District Library, 6495 Clarkston Road, no later than Jan. 28.
Do not submit local entries to Optimist International, or send it to the PO box listed in last week’s Clarkston News article, “Essay contest.” Also, make sure they’re written in English – Optimist International accepts them in French as well as English, but the local club doesn’t.
The topic is “When All the World’s Problems are Solved, is Optimism Still Necessary?” The district-level prize for winning entry is $2,500. Contact Bedford at bedfordt@cidlibrary.org.
