The Milo Project, a self-confidence and anti-bullying initiative for young elementary-age children, is gaining steam and is taking the next step with The Milo Project Family Fun Walk 2023, taking place at Depot Park on July 15 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
“The Milo Project invites all to bring the kiddos and dogs for this exciting day, which features many fun and free activities,” said Jeff Chamberlain, a lifelong Clarkston resident and founder and organizer of the event.
Activities will include as a fire engine for the kids to explore, courtesy of the Independence Township Fire Department, a dog contest for most unique dog and best trick (starts at noon), an appearance of the real-life ‘Milo,’ face painting, balloon twisting, bouncy obstacle course, free hot dogs and water bottles, music, and to kick off the festivities, a one-mile family walk that will start at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Check-in starts at 9:30 a.m.
Register online at themiloproject.org/fun-walk no later than June 20.
Registration is $30 per family and includes one event t-shirt, a copy of the book “The Dog with the Crooked Tail,” authored by Chamberlain, a Milo backpack charm and a Milo Project cause bracelet. Additional T-shirts can be purchased at check-in for $20. Enter quantity and size of additional T-shirts when registering online.
“The Milo Project was started as a grassroots initiative here in Clarkston in 2022 and with the support of many, has now been implemented in numerous school districts across the state and is also in 20-plus small-town boutiques throughout Michigan,” said Chamberlain. “This support is crucial to continue the mission of The Milo Project, which is to build self-confidence, promote kindness and prevent bullying one child at a time.
“The ultimate goal is to take The Milo Project to the national stage and to positively impact as many children’s lives as possible.”
Sponsorship opportunities are still available until June 10.
