More than 1,000 runners and walkers raced in the Clarkston State Bank Backroads Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, Nov. 11, raising $6,000 for two local charities.
“Over the years, the Backroads Race has provided funds to several organizations who rely on donations to fund their programs,” said J. Grant Smith, president and CEO. “We are proud to partner with both DRAW and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with the proceeds from the 2018 race.”
Disaster Relief at Work (DRAW) was started in 2011 by Greg Martin of Clarkston to help survivors of natural disasters return to normalcy.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital works to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.
