Workers are busy laying fresh bricks to patch up the side of 5 S. Main Street in Clarkston, home of The Clarkston News.
The work started last year after brick was found falling off the back of the building because of a water leak on the roof, said Jim Sherman Jr., publisher.
Roof work has been complete, and general contractor Tim Mack has moved onto repairs of the building’s brick walls. The brick has been reclaimed from old buildings in Detroit to match the 1870s structure, Sherman said.
Work will include brick work, plaster, and paint where needed on the north, west, and south sides of the building.
“It’ll take two or three pallets of brick,” Sherman said.
The brick work is expected to be complete by the end of June.
