City election

Deadline for candidates to submit petitions to run for Clarkston City Council is July 23.
Four seats on the City Council are up for election on Nov. 5 – those held by David Marsh, Jason Kneisc, and Scott Reynolds, for two-year terms; and Sharron Catallo, for a one-year term.

    Here we go again. The city charter says the first Tuesday following the first Monday in August which would be August 6, not July 23. “Those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” https://clarkstonnews.com/city-council-challenges-allows-candidates-november/

    Found out that Michigan state law was changed making July 23 the correct date, not the date in the charter. Why no one has proposed correcting the charter is a separate question.
