College achievements

A total of 8,625 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on May 12-13, including Alexander Carlson, of Clarkston, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.


Ferris State University has announced its recent graduates, including Independence Township’s Carter Herald (Criminal Justice, Magna Cum Laude), Clarkston’s Jessica Murray (Illustration), and Davisburg’s Harry Flynn (Architectural Technology, Magna Cum Laude).
In addition, Herald, Murray, Kaitlyn Walters, Trevor Townson, Kennedy Tillman, Madison Middleton, Jackson Valentino, Cassidy Wilson, Jakob Loutzenhiser, Lydia Bellant, Julian Kennedy, Brenden Nye, Elizabeth Jordan, Connor Hegarty, Anya Karpushenkoff, Julian Gekiere, and Declan Shiner, all of Clarkston, and Flynn, Jack Schwartz, McKenzie Danielson, Elena Peterson, Jason Adriaens, Serenity Diericks, Cale Herzenstiel, Owen Herzenstiel, and Hope McGillis, all of Davisburg, made the Ferris State Spring 2023 Dean’s List.


Sean Cooper, of Clarkston, majoring in Economics and Management, was named to Albion College’s Dean’s List for the Spring 2023 semester.
Cooper is a resident of Clarkston and is a graduate of Oxford High School.


A total of 12,487 students enrolled during Spring Semester 2023 at the University of Alabama were named to the Dean’s List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President’s List with an academic record of 4.0 (all As).
Kylie Dasher, of Clarkston, was named to the President’s List and Malcolm Tate, of Clarkston, was named to the Dean’s List.


Miami (Ohio) University awarded degrees to students during spring commencement of 2023, including Alyssa Schroeder, of Clarkston, and Ryan Miller, of Clarkston.


Riley Nicole Schneider, of Clarkston, has been named to the Deans’ List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year.
Schneider, a senior majoring in graphic design, was named to the Dean’s List for the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.


Bo Anderson, of Clarkston, has been selected to participate in the 2023 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. Anderson is conducting research into Olfaction and Pregnancy.
In addition, Anderson and Clarkston’s Grace Norman were named to the Dean’s List in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement in Spring 2023.
Dean’s List honors are accorded to Carthage students who achieve a minimum 3.5 GPA while carrying at least 12 letter-graded credits in a given semester.


Elizabeth Oda, of Clarkston, has graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carthage College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Marketing.
About 620 members of the Carthage Class of 2023 took part in Commencement festivities May 26-28.


Jordan Timmins-Puzio, of Clarkston, a graduate of Clarkston High School majoring in Music Composition, has been named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2023 semester at Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University.
The Dean’s List recognizes students who earn a GPA of 3.8 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more graded hours during the semester.


John Mueller (Mechanical Engineering) and Michaela Mueller (Photographic and Imaging Arts), both of Clarkston, were named to the Dean’s List at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology for the Spring 2023 semester.
Full-time undergraduate students are eligible for Dean’s List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.4, they do not have any grades of “Incomplete,” “D” or “F,” and they have completed at least 12 credit hours.
