Francis “Frank” D. Rivers, of Lakeville Minn., formerly of Clarkston, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 28, 2023 at the age of 93.
Frank was born on November 28, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, the eldest of five children.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara, son Kirk, parents Edward and Lillian, sisters Shirley and Martha, brother Wayne, and brother-in-laws Al and Andy.
Survived by his daughter Dottie (Don) Knutson of Farmington, grandsons Matthew, Zachary, and Christopher Knutson, sister Joan Danes of Brighton, sister-in-law Marlene Rivers of Marysville, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Throughout his life, he had a love of the automotive industry, leading eventually to his lifelong career as an engineer for General Motors, as well as a passion and collection of vintage automobiles.
He was fortunate to be able to retire early, and he and Barb spent many years traveling, and enjoying time as members of the Independence Squares and Clarkston Dance Club. Frank was also a member of the Clarkston Rotary and Farmington Elks Club.
Arrangements entrusted to Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston.
Memorial liturgy will take place at 11 a.m. on April 15 at the Church of the Resurrection, 6490 Clarkston Road, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Resurrection.
