Free race training

Angels’ Place Race is partnering with Deer Lake Athletic Club to offer free strength training classes and a guided running program to race participants.
A free, five-week strength and conditioning program starts on April 1, 6:15-7:15 p.m., at the club, 6167 White Lake Road. The classes will meet Wednesday evenings. Club membership not required.
“We’re bringing two great community organizations together to increase the overall health and wellness of Clarkston-area residents,” said Marlene Powell, fitness director at Deer Lake Athletic Club.
Individuals can also participate in a virtual running club using a couch-to-5k app with support from Angels’ Place Race. This training program for beginners as well as veteran runners is free to all registered participants of Angels’ Place Race. The program is led by experienced runner Anne Clifton and NASM-certified personal trainer, Patti Braunreuther.
Register for the May 16 Angels’ Place Race 5K or 10K events, either online or by downloading the registration form, and bring a completed training program waiver to the first class on April 1. Registration and waiver forms can be found at Angelsplacerace.org/c25k-club, and will also be available at Deer Lake Athletic Club.
