A 63-year-old Clarkston man died June 16 after a loose tire hit his pickup truck on I-75 at the Davison Freeway around 4 p.m.
The man’s name was not known as of press time.
Michigan State Police say the driver was traveling northbound when another vehicle traveling southbound lost a tire, which crossed the median wall and struck the vehicle’s windshield.
“The roof of the vehicle was caved in and prevented personnel from accessing the driver for treatment. Troopers utilized a chain and pulled the vehicle away from the wall and successfully removed the victim from the driver’s compartment,” MSP tweeted.
State police say the man died from his injuries in the hospital.
Reports also say the 34-year-old driver in the other vehicle is cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing.
