Clarkston City Council voted on Nov. 13 to award the bid to Brimacombe Landscaping of Clarkston to replace a rotting wood retaining wall with a stone wall, for $3,000.
The council originally awarded the bid to replace the wall with wood to Clarkston DPW for $1,892, on Oct. 23, but the bid award was rescinded.
The wall is on resident Tom Stone’s property, yet was originally built by the city decades ago without the owner’s approval, said city attorney Thomas Ryan.
