TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP:

Notice is hereby given that a State General election will be held in Independence Township on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Proposals: State:
Proposal 22-1: A proposal to amend the state constitution to require annual public financial disclosure reports by legislators and other state officers and change state legislator term limit to 12 total years in legislature.

Proposal 22-2: A proposal to amend the state constitution to add provisions regarding elections.

Proposal 22-3: A proposal to amend the state constitution to establish new individual right to reproductive freedom, including right to make all decisions about pregnancy and abortion; allow state to regulate abortion in some cases; and forbid prosecution of individuals exercising established right.

A sample ballot may be viewed on the Township website at www.indtwp.com under Clerk/Election/Finance-Election Information.

Absentee ballots are available for all elections; registered voters may contact the local Clerk to obtain an application for an absent voter ballot.

To comply with the Help America Act (HAVA), voting instructions will be available in audio format and in Braille. Arrangements for obtaining the instructions in these alternative formats can be made by contacting the Township Clerk in advance of the election. All polling locations are accessible for voters with disabilities.
