NOTICE OF
TOWNSHIP BOARD TRUSTEE VACANCY

The Charter Township of Independence is seeking qualified applicants to assume the vacant Trustee position on the Board of Trustees resulting from the resignation of Trustee Paul A. Brown who was appointed Township Treasurer effective September 28, 2022. All applicants must be registered voters in the Charter Township of Independence, 18 years of age, a U.S. Citizen and live in the Township for at least 30-days prior to appointment. Additionally, there is an expectation that a second Trustee vacancy may be created following the 2022 November General Election. As a result, all applicants for the current vacancy will also be considered for the second opening should this occur. The Board intends to fill both the current Trustee vacancy and the expected vacancy, if this occurs, from the same pool of applicants who respond to this notice.
The responsibilities of a Trustee include but are not limited to fiduciary responsibility to manage the affairs of the township, attend township board meetings, and participate in decisions that are in the best interest of the public. The appointment for the current vacancy will be effective upon the date of the Board appointment and will expire at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. This appointment is for the remainder of the vacant Trustee position. Should a second vacancy occur as a result of the November election, the second appointment will be effective upon the Board’s appointment and expire at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Neubeck, Township Clerk at 6483 Waldon Center Drive – Clarkston, Michigan 48346 and received no later than 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
Upon appointment, the applicant must take the Oath of Office.
