SCAMP recognizes annual VIPs

The Clarkston SCAMP Welker VIP Awards ceremony was held last month, hosted by the Clarkston Family Farm where the SCAMPers were busy with a field trip led by Chelsea O’Brien.
The VIP awards are given out each year to those individuals or groups that help to make SCAMP successful.
This year’s winners are: Steve Stroud – The Gateway (Helping Hands Award), Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson (Big Heart Award), Jim and Audrey Tanner, of Tanner Building and Remodeling (Smiles Award), Cass Benson (Mel Vaara Award), and Hank Passmore (Bob Brumback Award).
“Each year, we are so lucky to be able to raise the funds necessary to host this camp for so many individuals with special needs,” said SCAMP Executive Director Aimee Baker. “Sometimes the help is financial and sometimes it is hard work and enthusiasm. We would never be able to accomplish this on our own and we are forever grateful to those who step up and help us time and again.
“Putting on this camp is a pure labor of love, which is why it has been so successful for 44 years.”
