Good cheer bloomed all over this week when Clarkston Farm and Garden Club members distributed fresh floral arrangements in the International Lonely Bouquet project.
Nearly three dozen members of the garden club gathered Monday at First Congregational Church on Clarkston Road, where they assembled bouquets to be placed in specially selected locations throughout the community including Depot Park, Independence Township Senior Community Center, Clarkston Independence District Library, assisted living centers, and business locations on Main Street.
Each bouquet had a postcard labeled “Adopt me, please.” Bouquets were bigger and more bountiful this year, thanks to the talents of the local members who contributed blooms from their own gardens.
Started in 2013 by Emily Avenson, a floral designer in Belgium, the bouquet project has spread to dozens of countries. The local club began participating a year ago. The Lonely Bouquet website and Facebook page tracks thousands of bouquets donated and adopted around the world.
