Wolves swim into winter with win

Clarkston Boys Swim and Dive opened the 2023-2024 winter season with a 93-87 win over Brandon-Goodrich last Thursday.
For individual events, the swimmers to earn points for the Wolves: in the 50-yard freestyle, Nathan Feret in second place in the time of 22.92; Craig Popiolek, fourth, 26.19; 100-yard butterfly, Edward Zarzycki, second, 1:08.51; Diego Cordoba, fifth, 1:19.51; 100-yard freestyle, Feret, first, 55.07; Jonathan Young, fourth, 1:05.87; Ryan Kornas, fifth, 1:07.16; 100-yard backstroke, Braedenm Coventree, first, 59.40; Jack Smith, third, 1:12.93; Ryan David, fifth, 1:14.99; 100-breaststroke, Ben Guzal, second, 1:13.55; Zac Montgomery, third, 1:20.90; Young, fifth, 1:23.30; 200-yard freestyle, Guzal, first, 2:04.11; Zarzycki, second, 2:14.57; Ryan David, sixth, 2:27.64; 200-yard IM, Coventree, first, 2:12.92; Blake Davidson, third, 2:41.08; Montgomery, fifth, 2:44.53; 500-yard freestyle, Smith, 6:36.38; Davidson, third, 6:43.18; and Connor Quinlan, fourth, 7:26.49.
For relays, the 200-medley relay team of Coventree, Montgomery, Zarzycki and Feret finished in second place in the time of 1:55.53. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Guzal, Feret, Zarzycki and Popiolek finished in second place, 1:43.32. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Coventree, Smith, Guzal and Popiolek finished in first place in the time of 4:05.88.
Jonathan George finished in first place in the 1-meter diving event with 152.20 points after six dives. Rockett George finished in second place with 128.10 points.
The Wolves head to Ferndale this Thursday. They return from holiday break to host Lake Orion on Tuesday, January 9, 6 p.m.
